RE: Hydraulic slide will not stay in

Please go to Winnebago Forum
and post your question there. There are a lot of Winnie owners with the same problem including us. Ours creeps out when in storage but does it the same at the top as the bottom.
Anyways, lots of good folks on this forum.

RE: Where can I find picnic tablecloth/bench?

Hi,
I have seen what I would call upscale vinyl tablecloths with matching bench covers at a couple of RV shows/rallies. They had loads of patterns, some seasonal, etc. The cost was around $40, I think. Does anyone have them? Worth the extra $$$? Does anyone know if they have a website? I have googled every which way, and can't find anything but the traditional red check ones. Thanks, Kathy
I'm watching this one. I would like to have one too. Not necessarily interested in the bench covers but would like a new vinyl tablecloth other than a "checkered" one.

RE: GPS Downloads

I finally figured out how to down load GPS POI's on my Garmin. I loaded Passport America, Good Sam, Rest Areas, and offbeat tourist attractions. Do you have any others that you would recommend?
How did you download the rest areas? Never mind. Just found it.

RE: Birmingham South Alabama

When are you heading this way?
The forecast is for a chance of rain all week.
(20-30% Thur &Fri as of now)
If FAY takes the track that she is predicted to then it
looks like she may swing back around through Miss. and effect us
late this week again.
If I get a chance the next day or so I will stop and take some pic's.
Ugh.. Not what I want to hear. We will have 6 adults, 2 dogs and 1 toddler. One motorhome and 1 tent. We are due to arrive on Friday and leave on Monday. If Fay sticks around, looks like we will have to cancel trip. Don't want to spend weekend like this even though I want to see our son from Dallas really bad.
Keep me informed as to forecast. Can't depend on weather sites I have been looking at. Pics would be nice too if you have a chance. Thanks.

Beware of Davis Travel Centers!

We stopped at Exit 39 on I-85 in VA yesterday to fill up. The sign from the interstate read Diesel 4.03 Cash. We have never stopped at this place before as it is relatively new. As we pulled closer to the station, we looked immediately for the Truck Entrance sign as we always do. As we made the turn, another sign caught our eye.
RV Sign
We thought, wow! This is great! We can fill up with diesel and don't have to use the truck pumps, which were in a separate area. The area was clean and looked like a great place to stop.
Clean area
Like the dutiful DW I am, LOL, I went inside and told the lady at the register that we wanted to pump diesel at the RV pump and that I was paying cash, as you have to prepay if not using credit. I never mentioned that I wanted the cash discount price, (big mistake)! She never mentioned that there would NOT be a cash discount at this pump.
We did not find this out until DH went in to settle up. We were charged the full price of 4.15 a gallon. DH was informed by the assistant manager that Exxon owns the diesel in the RV island and that Davis owns the diesel in the Truck island. How the heck are we supposed to know this?? Man this did not go over too well. We felt like we had been cheated as there were no signs anywhere indicating no cash discount at this pump. We realize that there was little lack of communication on lady at the cash register's part as well as mine but this was a shocker.
Long story short, DH called the company president today, who happened to be at this store at the time of the phone call. Weird coincidence huh? He went out and looked at the signs to confirm what DH was telling him. He refunded the difference in the cash and credit price to us. At least he was agreeable to this.
But watch out for this in the future at all stations.

RE: Floor plan help!!

We thought the curbside dinette would be nice so when we use it we would be looking over our patio not the neighbors
But one other thing to think about with curb side. You will be looking at your neighbor's sewer hook up while eating. (Course you do anyways if outside.)

RE: N.C. RV owners take note

NOT quite true. Below is a excerpt from the NC state code for CDL drivers license exemptions
Are there any exemptions to being required to have North Carolina CDL?
Yes, a few . . .
1. Active Duty Military . . . with military licenses operating military vehicles.
2. Firefighters . . . meeting approved training standards and operating authorized emergency vehicles.
3. Farmers . . . in certain cases.
4. Individuals ....operating motor homes or other vehicles used exclusively to transport personal possessions or family members, for non business purposes.
Not quite true. This is from NC DOT's website.
Class A: Required to operate any combination of vehicles exempt from commercial driver license (CDL) requirements with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more, provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is greater than 10,000 pounds. Also required for operating any combination of vehicles with a GVWR of less than 26,001 pounds, if the vehicle being towed has a GVWR of more than 10,000 pounds.
Class B: Required to operate any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more that is exempt from CDL requirements, and any such vehicle while towing another vehicle with a GVWR of 10,000 pounds or less.
Class C: Required to operate any vehicle with a GVWR of less than 26,001 pounds that is exempt from CDL requirements and is not towing a vehicle with a GVWR of more than 10,000 pounds. Most drivers need only a Regular C license to operate personal automobiles and small trucks.
Not many people are aware that have motorhomes towing in excess of 26k need a Class A. I am not sure what the op means by some of the things he mentioned, ie, fuel sticker? Not if you are not commercial I don't think.

RE: Coach too old?

I think the 10 year rule is generally used only when the RV has not been well cared for and looks bad. If the rig is well kept and nice, they "forget" to ask about the age and let you in.
So would you let this "7" year old rig into a resort? New Paint Job
We elected to full body paint our coach rather than trying to incur more debt and start over again. We love this Journey and could not bear the thought of trading her.

RE: Replacing captains chairs

Ultraleather is Polyurethane (not vinyl). It is much thinner than real leather and therefore much softer. Polyurethane is a very tough material and wears very well. Polyurethane is also very hygroscopic (absorbs water), so you tend not to stick to it when its hot. Most prefer Ultraleather to real leather for comfort.
We purchased our used 02 Winnebago in Feb. 06. According to the sticker that was in the bag with the manuals, our captain's chairs are Ultraleather. But I am confused by your statement because when it is hot, we stick to our chairs. We are thinking about changing out our chairs for this reason but now I don't know if it will do any good to purchase Ultraleather.

Somewhere to overnight in the Towson MD area

We have to be in the Towson MD area in a couple of weeks and need somewhere to overnight. I wonder if there are any dealers in this area that have overnight parking on their lots?? i can't seem to find any campgrounds in this area at all so that is why I thought of a dealer.
The fairground at Timonium is out because of the State Fair starting that week.
Thanks!
